What is Neopets

If you’ve stumbled across this site without knowing what Neopets is, here’s an introduction to the game that has attracted millions of users around the world. Neopets can refer to the game or the pets which are virtual critters you adopt.

As quoted from the Neopets website, “Neopets® is the greatest Virtual Pet Site on the Internet. With your help, we have built a community of over 100 million virtual pet owners across the world! Neopets has many things to offer including over 160 games, trading, auctions, greetings, messaging, and a giant whirlpool. Best of all, it’s completely FREE!“

How do people (like us) spend all their waking hours (save for eating and maybe some sleep) on Neopets? It’s not that difficult.

 

Games
There are over 160 different games. From no brainers to brain teasers. Choose from chance games to puzzles and action games. Hot favorites are Snowmuncher, Meepit Juice Break and Mootix Drop.

Battledome
Challenge pets to a friendly duel. You can search for pets with similar statistics and use equipped weapons to battle.

NeoPoints
Currency in use for most parts of Neopia. Other worlds may require alternate currency like Dubloons (Krawk Island).

Trading
Place your items up for trade at the Trading Post. Interested users can initiate a trade with you, and top up with NeoPoints.

Auction
Offer your items up for NeoPoints at the auction. You can state the starting bid and duration of auction.

Shopping
You can purchase all sorts of items - food to feed your pet, Battledome weapons, books to read to your pet, seashells and even pets for your pets! You can haggle with the main shopkeepers to get the best price for your item. Don’t forget you can also buy items from other people’s shops using the Shop Wizard or create your own shop to sell your stuff and watch the NeoPoints roll in.

Gallery
If you’ve accumulated a whole lot of items that you consider your favourite Neopian things, why not start a gallery for other users to admire.

Contests
Show off your amazing drawing ability, writing skills or design talents by entering weekly competitions such as Pet Spotlight, Site Spotlight, Neoadventure Spotlight - there’s something for everyone.

NeoHome
Create a house for your pets, fill it with furniture, build extensions and explore your neighbourhood. Choose a neighbourhood to live in from Neopia Central to the more extravagant Faerieland. Decorate your pet’s place with a wide range of fun furniture. You can even create your own NeoGarden.

Friends
Instant message other users through NeoMail to make friends from all over the world. You can chat with them on Neopets Chat boards or nBn’s boards. Join Guilds to find people with same interests as you!

And of course, your pet! You can own up to 4 pets per account. Choose from 52 species of pets. Some are limited edition, so you can’t create them. Also, check out the Adoption Centre. Train your pet up and paint it, so you can flaunt your very own NeoPet!
