Neopets Plots
Plots are events that you can participate in on Neopets. There are different aspects to plots, like being able to fight against new challengers in the Battledome, solve puzzles, read comics or vote for who you think will win a competition. They’re fun and depending on how well you do, you could walk away with some mighty fine treasures, but it’s not the only reason for participating in a plot, they’re fun and challenging.
Take a look at all the plots and events that have taken place since Neopets began, and some that started but weren’t finished.

The first plot ever released on Neopets was the Space Plot, also known as the arrival of Dr. Sloth. This started on August 16th, 2000.
Two days later, on August 18th, 2000, Sacrificers started. Neopets said it was a game, but pretty much it was the first event where you got to guess which TNT member would win. Well, you got to vote for who you wanted to be sacrificed.
Then on October 2nd, 2000 the next plot was already beginning. It was called The Hunt for the Battledome, although it’s better known as the first Maraqua plot. Sacrificers was still happening at the same time.
In 2001 the Ski Lodge Murder Mystery plot began on February 2nd. This was a combination of both voting on who would be the next victim, as well as figuring out the mystery.
While the Ski Lodge Murder Mystery was still in progress, the next plot started on April 26th, 2001. It was the first war, actually - The Tyrannian Invasion. This war also concluded before the Murder Mystery ended.
It wasn’t long before the second war plot started. On June 12th, 2001 the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin plot began. It was also known as the first Lost Desert plot.
Right before the end of the Lucky Coin plot there was also a one week puzzle in the second week of July 2001 called Usurper. This had to do with how King Coltzan died, and you had to figure out who did it.
Usurper had only just ended and the next plot was already underway. On July 17th, 2001 Coltzan’s crown went missing. This was another puzzle quest that only took place for three days, and it ended up being called the Hunt for the Crown.
With the introduction of Krawk Island, TNT had planned to do another plot which started on August 17th, 2001. Not much later they discontinued with it though, and it only ended up with Maraqua getting destroyed. A few years later they would make a whole new plot around this though.
Then in September 2001 they had another "TNT vote" event, the Krawk Cup. Basically all you could do was guess who would win at this Deckball Championship, but it kept everyone busy for a while.
As if that wasn’t enough for 2001… On November 5th the Neopet Version 2 plot started. This too was a puzzle quest and harder than the Hunt for the Crown. This plot was over in 5 days.
And then it was quiet for over six months. In June 2002 the Draik was released, in July the Ixi appeared and finally on July 23rd, 2002 the first Meridell plot starts. But it wasn’t until the end of November that the war actually started. By the end of December the war ended, which means this plot took 5 months to finish. Well, 6 months if you start at the release of the Draik. It’s also the only plot in 2002.
The next event was another puzzle quest, The Gadgadsbogen Puzzle. This started on March 5th, 2003 and was much like Usurper, only took a bit longer.
On June 12th, 2003 all the Petpets started to disappear. Most likely TNT planned to make a plot with this and featuring Jelly World (where the Petpets ended up at), but somehow they just gave everyone their Petpets back and ended it.

With the release of the TCG, TNT held a TCG Staff Tournament starting on September 9th, 2003. The first of three TCG tournaments where you simply chose who you thought would win.
Then two weeks later, on September 23rd, 2003 the next plot started, the Volcano Mystery plot. Also the last event of 2003.
On January 29th, 2004 the second TCG Staff Tournament was announced. Again all you could do was guess who would win.
A few days later with the release of the Battle for Meridell TCG, the Battle for Meridell plot started on February 2nd, 2004. Another bigger plot, since it took 3 months to complete.
Two weeks after this plot ended, the third and last TCG Staff Tournament started on May 24th, 2004.
The Return of Dr. Sloth TCG expansion had been released for a few months now, but on July 7th, 2004 TNT announced the new Sloth plot would start soon. On the 29th of that month they ended up canceling the plot though. This was plot number 3 to be canceled. They did mention they would put in all their effort into a new plot featuring Hannah.
But it was wasn’t until October 21st, 2004 for the next plot to start, Hannah and the Ice Caves.
With the Hannah and the Ice Caves plot TNT also released another puzzle quest on November 19th, 2004 - The Guildmasters’ Dinner. This would have been like Usurper and the Gadgadsbogen Puzzle, but this too got canceled, making it event number 4 that got canceled… But even with two canceled events, 2004 ended with having 2 plots and 2 other events.
In 2005 we had to wait until March 15th for the next plot, the Curse of Maraqua. This plot took 3 months as well and was the last plot with an actual war.
Then on August 30th, 2005 the second and last plot of the year started, it was the (second) Lost Desert plot. Another plot taking 3 months, but the first long plot that mainly existed of puzzles.
In 2006 we again had to wait until March for the next plot. On March 28th, 2006 the Altador miniplot started and it’s the only plot that still can be completed.
With the Altador plot coming to an end, the first Altador Cup was announced on June 1st, 2006. The Haunted Woods Team took out the Cup in a close game against Darigan Citadel. There was also an Awards Ceremony with 20 awards to be given out to various players.
On August 3rd, 2006 the Cyodrake’s Gaze comic/puzzle started. It was a small plot and ended with Shenkuu being revealed.

Then on October 3rd, 2006 the last major plot of the year started - The Tale of Woe. This plot lasted less than 2 months but was still one of the bigger plots, with a good mix of puzzles and battles.
With the revamp of the Games Room, the Games Master Challenge began on November 23rd, 2006. There were 12 challenges and you would receive a prize for beating each one. It concluded on November 29th.
In March 2007, we had the Daily Dare. The first event of 2007, but certainly not the last one. You had to beat Aaa or his sister, Abigail, in various games during the month of March.
May 2007 brought the newest plot, Journey to the Lost Isle with beautiful comics, puzzles to complete and Battledome challengers. It was a short plot with only 3 challengers to fight against and 3 puzzle-like activities. This plot concluded on June 1st, 2007 and prizes were awarded on July 6th.
It was leaked earlier on in the year that the Altador Cup would be returning in June 2007 and when the Cup was officially launched on June 2nd, 2007 everyone was hyped. Team Kreludor didn’t return this year instead Team Shenkuu made their debut. Who will win the Cup?
Just in time for the Thanksgiving holidays, AAA has again challenged everyone to beat his scores in the Gamesmaster Challenge. There are five challenges a day for a week. Can you beat them all to be better than AAA?
Much to everyone’s surprise the The Return of Dr. Sloth plot was announced on January 29th, 2008. It was a puzzle based plot with a comic. There were 15 chapters to the comic and, disappointingly, only 4 steps to complete. The second step of the plot completely stumped many people - decoding messages from Commander Garoo to Sloth. There was a fair balance of Battledome challengers for all types of pets, from very easy to rather difficult. The plot wound up on 15th March, 2008. Neopets surprised many users by announcing on the 22nd March, 2008 that you could find out how well you did in the Sloth plot by viewing your Player Stats. Many say that having the Daily Dare during the Sloth plot detracted from the Sloth plot, which was the most anticipated plots for Neopets users.
During the Sloth plot the Daily Dare was announced. This year there was a story (with Neovision footage as well) surrounding AAA and his little sister Abigail - the two were kidnapped and forced to play games all day so that was a nice change from last year’s Daily Dare. A lot of users were disappointed with AAA’s score that you had to beat each day, most days it wasn’t really a challenge.
The Altador Cup III was highly anticipated this year - everyone was waiting with baited breath on June 1st for Cup details to be released. When June 2nd rolled around there was still no news, would the Cup be canceled this year? It wasn’t until 7th June that we found out the Cup would be starting on 12th June. Neopians everywhere rejoiced at this news and patiently counted down the days until they could sign up with their team. We found out that Kiko Lake would not be participating and Kreludor would join the Cup after being absent from last year.
