Lakeline Mall, TX - 7/31 and 8/1 2004

I had a great time at the mall tour in Austin, Texas. I got a passport for all the stamps first. So then I went to King of the Hill. I lost my first game, but I had a good time doing it! I went to Live Play were a bunch of people get a two sides and played a 2 - 5 minute game and we played the game with big cards! Well I then went to League Play were I played some games with people and if I won I would get two stamps and if I lost I would get one. I got five and got a booster pack for Mystery Island (If I got another five I could have gotten another.) I then did Create-A-Card where I made a card and I don’t think I’ll win. I then went to Training School (even though I already knew how to play I still had to do it, but I did get a starter deck for free.) I had enough stamps to spin the Wheel of Excitement! I spun and got five Dr. Sloth packs, my sister spun and got five Battle for Meridell (she gave two to me!), my brother spun and got a card binder and my mom spun and got the Neopets magazine.

Below is my experience at the Neopets TCG mall tour. Enjoy!

Saturday was one of the best days in my life! I’d waited for the Neopets TCG Mall Tour for about a month, and it was just the day before. I won the art contest on Neopets.com and so that took my mind off of it for a few seconds.

The next day we started off. My sister and I had gotten the starter set and split it a few months ago, and then we got the Meridell starter decks later on. We were ready for battle.

I was shaking with excitement as we walked through JCPenny’s. And then we came to it. The WHEEL OF EXCITEMENT! Me and all my siblings got passports, and then we crossed to the training school.

All of my siblings besides my sister and I didn’t know how to play, so they went there first. Me and my sister went to the King of the Hill, because we had our hearts set on it ever since we read about it online.

The guy at the desk handed us these really cool holo foil promo cards of which had the trading post on them. I immediately stuck it in my deck and walked over to one of the tables.

I first played against my sister, and won against her. Then I played against my older brother who was just learning, and I beat him. And after that, I got this one boy who was pretty good, (although I won) and I then played against this lady who of course had only just learned it at the training school. Then a little girl came up, heard I had won 3 games from the guy at the desk, and then said she didn’t want to play. Then I got this boy who was pretty good, and he had built a pretty good deck. But I beat him, and I won a really neat looking binder! (To this day I keep my cards that aren’t in my deck in there).

Then we waited in line for the artist signing, waited a while and then left. It was lunch time by then so we had to stop, but not for long. Me and my siblings went to the Create-A-Card although the line was too long.

The League play was right by it, so we headed over there. I played several games, and earned enough points to get a booster pack. I got the new Mystery Island one, and opened it up. Inside was a holo foil!

Well, after that we went to the life size play area. There, we of course played with giant cards that were about 2/3 the size of a person.

Then it was off to the wheel of excitement! I spun, and won a Think-A-Way toy. It was very sad when we had to leave, and it was even more painful when we didn’t go the next day. *sniff* *sniff*. I just hope that next year they come back to Austin Texas!

Ever since I saw that the Neopets Mall Tour was coming close to my town, I got excited. And soon that day came. Most people there just went shopping and didn’t know Neopets would be there. Some others didn’t even know what Neopets was. But I was there for a reason. (At least I thought!). First, I got my passport. The first pod I went to was the training school. I always knew there was a trading card game, but I didn’t know how to play. They told me everything I needed to know. Then I went to the Create your own trading card station. I enjoyed making my own card and chatting with other Neopets players. I didn’t actually submit my card to the contest, because I didn’t think it was good enough. Next, we went to where you could meet the artists, but since the King Of The Hill tournament was also there, I got a stamp on my passport even though I didn’t participate in the tournament. But first, I just got my stamp and an autograph because I didn’t know if I would have time to wait for a sketch. After, I had enough stamps to spin the wheel of excitement. (4 out of 7 stamps) I landed on the ?, so I got a binder! After, there was plenty of time, so I went back upstairs to get a sketch. I had to wait an hour, but it was worth it. I got a sketch of a plushie cybunny (I love Cybunnies) from Anthony. It was amazing how he was able to do it so quickly! He told me he had been working for Neopets since 2000. It was a great day, and I got free stuff, too!
