Battledome - Weapons
Training Your Pet | Weapons | One-player Challengers | Unreleased One-player Challengers | Faerie Abilities
Before you take your pet into battle, you will need to equip it with some defence and attack items. As mentioned on the Abilities page, for each move during battle, you will be allowed to chose to use either 1 mode of attack, defense or an ability along with 2 equipped items. You can have up to 8 equipped items at one time but, with so many available, which ones do you choose?
There are several different types of attack weapons. Those that will only attack your opponent, some that will do both attack and defend, plus some that can also steal a weapon from your opponent during the course of the battle (in most cases they are returned after the battle though)! Defence weapons will prevent and/or minimize the damage you take from your opponent while some defence weapons heal your pet and others can freeze your opponents. So how do you know which weapons to equip your pet with? Just remember that your opponent is also planning out their strategy as to what weapons to use against you. The type of defence your opponent has chosen will determine whether you will be able to reduce your opponents’ hit points during battle. So, unless you know for sure what your opponent will be using, it is a good idea to have your pets equipped with a few different types of weapons.
Think you are ready to go out and get some weapons? Well not so fast! Before you go out and start buying up weapons, you should familiarize yourself with the Neopets Battlepedia so you can understand what they do.
In the Neopets Battlepedia, you will see that each weapon will have a description like this…
![]() |
Snow Flame | 59,950 NP |
| Attack Defence |
||
| Endless Use Item |
Rarity99 | |
| When this powerful ball of icy flame erupts from your hand, get rid of it quick, you may get a nasty burn! | ||
The description is telling you the type of icons of Defence and Attack that weapon will do. All the different icons and what each icon represents are as follows:
= Physical
= Air
= Light
= Darkness
= Earth
= Water
= Fire
It will also tell you if the weapon is “Endless Use” or “Limited Use”. Endless Use means that you can use the weapon over and over during a battle and you will still have it after the battle. Limited Use can mean two things; the weapon can only be used once per battle and you will still have it after your battle or it is a one-time use only weapon and once used, it is gone for good. Note though that there are some weapons that can break, but of course the Battlepedia will not tell you that!
The Rarity and NP value shown usually means how rare the weapon is and the Neopets estimated cost of the weapon but that is not always accurate. You’ll have to look the weapon up yourself to find the real rarity and cost.
This is the legend that tells you what the weapon does and how many you can have equipped at one time.

Got it? Good! Sonow you think you are ready to go out and do some weapons shopping? Then just head on over to the Neopets Battlepedia to see all the weapons that are available. Almost all that is. Some are so rare that their descriptions can’t even be found in the Battlepedia! You’ll have to find out about those yourself.
Below we have listed just a few of the more popular types of weapons just to give you an idea of what is out there and what they do but ultimately it will be up to you to decide which ones work the best for you and your pet.
Attack Items
Snowballs
There are many different types of snowballs that you can use to pelt your opponents with. They can be a cheap and efficient weapon however, only certain ones are really effective such as: Exploding, Stone, Sticky, Icy and one called Snow Mudball. They are a one-time only use weapon. How about those Snowball Wands you might ask? By description you may think the Poison, Evil and Wet Snowballs Wand would be great cause you can make lots of snowballs during battles however, they create a fairly ineffective snowball and it takes one move to create the snowballs and you can’t use them until the following move. Hardly efficient in this writer’s opinion. You could invest in a Cement Mixer that creates multiple “random” types of snowballs but the same applies as the Snowballs Wands… you waste a move to create a snowball that you can’t use it until your next move. Another downside is, both the Cement Mixer and the Snowball Wands have a chance of breaking.
Tridents
There are several types of Tridents available. A couple of them are species specific while others can be used by any pet. Tridents like Trident of Common Power and Trident of Poseidon can be quite pricey and are rare where as the Attack Fork is a reasonably priced attack weapon that does pretty darn good in battle! Tridents can be disabled for the duration of a battle by the Bent Fork.
On the expensive side and some being rare, these novas can simultaneously heal you in battles and damage your opponents with fire and light. The Novas and Supernovas can be used only once but by using the Staff or Wand of Nova and Supernova, you may create these powerful beams once every round. Staff or Wand of Nova and Supernova have been known to break though.
Potions
There are several different types of potions which have different functions. Some can turn your pet invisible or fog up your opponents view while others create slippery floors and shoot jets of fire and water. They sell for a range of prices and can only be used once.
Freezing Items
There are a few different weapons available that will freeze your opponent for one round during battle. Just to name some there are; 6 different Frost Cannons (Black and Rainbow being the most popular), Lupe Wand, Freezing potion, and the most sought after, the Hypno Helmet. You can only equip your pet with one freeze item per battle and once used on an opponent, they will not be able to attack you or defend it’s self on the next move. Some battledomer’s think it is a cheap shot to use freezing items during battle but hey, Neopets made them to use so why not use them.
Defence Items
Amulets
There are many different Amulets available in the market for affordable prices. They can be used to protect against fire, light, dark and earth attacks or give extra hit points or restore a pet to full health during battle. Some amulets are limited use and some are one time use.
Pet Altering Items
There are a few types of items that will alter your pets for one move in the Battledome. For example, the Downsize Power Plus allows your pet to temporarily shrink which can help to avoid an attack while the Supersize Gargantuplex allows your pet to grow 40 times it’s size.
Scorchstones
Some Scorchstones like the Silver, Earthen and Golden are defence weapons and are used to fend off air, water and light attacks and they can be used more than once per battle. Others like the Purple and Rainbow, to name a few, are healing Scorchstones and are used to help restore hit points. The Rainbow will restore your pet eighty hit points!
The healing Scorchstones can only be used once per battle.
Hidden Tower
For the richer Neopian, you may want look in the Hidden Tower to purchase some weapons that pack a mean punch but be prepared… Hidden Tower items are very expensive!![]() Monoceraptors Claw |
