In order for your pet to gain an ability, they need to be blessed by a Faerie. If you can find a Bottled Faerie and release it, they will normally bless your Neopet as a reward for your kindness. When a Faerie blesses your Neopet, it can give your Neopet an ability. These range from the ability to hide to shooting fireballs or flying!

Some abilities are very strong so your Neopet needs to be a certain level to learn them. Providing your Neopet is strong enough to start learning, it will receive the most basic abilities first; all new abilities start at level 1. Every couple of levels your pet reaches it will be able to gain new abilities. In order to get the top abilities, your pet must know all the other abilities that come before it.

Some Q & A’s on Abilities

What are abilities used for?
Abilities are used in the Battledome when battling another player or opponent.

 

How do I bless my Neopet with abilities?
First you need to obtain a bottled Faerie which you can get in the Magic Shop, as a random event, from another player’s shop, the Trading Post or Auction. When you have the Faerie in your inventory, click on the Faerie and in the item pop-up window choose Bless ‘your pets name’.

 

You give your pet a Faerie and it flew away! Why?
It could be one of two reasons:

The first being because your pet’s level is too low. To acquire certain Faerie powers, your Neopet must be strong enough to contain the power. Only then can it be blessed. The charts above show at what level your pet can be blessed by each of the Faeries.

The second could be because your pet already has all the abilities that the Faerie can give. If you try and give your pet a Bottled Faerie which the pet already has all the abilities for, it will just fly away because there isn’t any more abilities for the Faerie to give.

 

How can I increase the level with the Faerie abilities?
There are certain things that can raise the level of your pet’s abilities such as random events and feeding your pet a Radioactive Negg or a Plaid Negg can raise the level of random ability (note that the Plaid Negg can change your pets color). You can also go to the Wheel of Excitement and hope it lands on the Light Faerie which might get you an ability level increase. At the moment the abilities level doesn’t do anything so don’t waste your NP on the Neggs.
